That's where I come in as your dedicated technical editor, here to assist you in crafting a pattern that showcases your incredible designs. My focus is on enhancing the layout, refining the mathematical details, and ensuring utmost clarity, making your pattern a breeze for others to follow. This crucial step in the pattern-writing process ensures that your customers can embark on their knitting journey with confidence.

As standard I will check:

Size and Fit: Ensuring sizes align with expectations and schematics and all sizing information is accurate.
Yarn Details: Verifying that all yarn information is complete and correct.
Gauge: Confirming clarity and presence of gauge information.
Needles and Notions: Checking accuracy and consistency of needle and notions details.
Abbreviations: Ensuring a comprehensive list of abbreviations is included and consistently applied throughout.
Charts/Pattern Panels: Checking the accuracy of charts/pattern panels, including abbreviations.
Grammar and Spelling: Scanning for grammar, spelling, and punctuation errors to maintain clarity.
Completeness: Verifying all necessary parts, including assembly instructions, are included.
Image Accuracy: Confirming the accuracy of any included images relative to the pattern.
Mathematical Accuracy: Checking mathematical calculations such as stitch counts after increases and decreases.
Language and Terminology Consistency: Ensuring overall consistency in language and terms.
Pattern Flow: Assessing the pattern's flow for user-friendliness.

The Process

To begin the process, please send an email detailing your editing needs and attach a copy of your pattern.

After receiving your email, pattern, and any additional information needed, I'll generate a quote and estimated timeframe for my services. You can choose between an hourly rate or a flat fee depending on your preference.

Once you've agreed to the quote, I'll start the first edit. During this phase, I may reach out with any additional questions or clarifications. If you have opted for an hourly rate and I anticipate going over the estimated time, l will consult with you before proceeding.

I will return the pattern to you with detailed annotations, highlighting corrections and suggested changes.

After you've made the necessary corrections and adjustments, I will perform a second edit. This step ensures all changes are correctly implemented and helps catch any remaining errors.
